Noticed that Glenallen Hill was coaching first base for the Rockies the other night. Was going to say something but forgot about it until I had an IM conversation with my buddy Cliff, who opened with "GA Hill is back!"
I saw him in the background, then visited the Rockies site to make sure I wasn't seeing things, as hallucinating that you are seeing Glenallen Hill is a sure sign of mental slippage. His bio page made me laugh. "He will also coordinate baserunning and outfield instruction."
Ho ho, that's a good one!
What great memories. This is the best news that the Giants could have. The Rockies are already at the bottom of the division and should stay there with such a coaching find.
I find it interesting that while Hill played at some 7 teams (and some with multiple stints), he's most often featured in a Giants uniform. Just the sight sends my diastolic up 10 points. And I didn't know that he grew up in Santa Cruz (something that is a plus in my book since my daughter, Ariela Morgenstern, is a Slug graduate from UCSC — but not in baseball).
Marty and Cliff remember my rants about this so-called "Spiderman" when he was on the Giants. What I don't see on his stats page is a stat for hitting into inning-ending double plays with men in scoring position. That was his forte.

Hooray for GA! This is great news! He looks like he can still play. Bring him back!
